2024 Spring Gala Parent/Dancer Information
MotionArts Spring Gala 2024 Performance Information
Our Spring Gala Performances will take place Saturday, May 11th at 3:00pm and 7:00pm at The Buskirk-Chumley Theater. Due to the large number of dancers enrolled this semester, there will be two different performances, one for each class (some advanced classes will perform in both shows). Each performance will last approximately 90 minutes. Tickets are available through the Buskirk-Chumley box office ONLY. You do NOT need a ticket for your dancer since they will be seated in our balcony student section.
Costumes: All Costumes and accessories are owned by MotionArts. Some costumes may be sent home the week before the show, and some will be distributed at the theater. Dancers should arrive at their dress rehearsal and performances ready to perform in their leotard, tights and shoes, costumes on (if applicable), hair ready. All costumes MUST BE RETURNED IMMEDIATLEY after the performances at the theater in the designated return bins. Dancers will need to provide their own leotard, tights or leggings, and shoes as required by class and listed below. Dancers ages 10+ with multiple costume changes may use the basement dressing room.

Performance Schedule:
3:00pm May 11th Gala Performance: (MAD & minis arrive 1:30pm)
2:00pm Dancer drop-off (leave all bags, shoes, water bottles etc. with parent) to be organized by class or go to dressing room.
2:30pm doors open for audience. 3:00pm start. 4:30pm approximate end time.
7:00pm May 11th Gala Performance: (MAD & minis arrive 5:45pm)
6:00 pm Dancer drop-off (leave all bags, shoes, water bottles etc. with parent) to be organized by class or go to dressing room.
6:30pm doors open for audience. 7:00pm start. 8:30pm approximate end time.
Dress Rehearsal Schedule: Friday, May 10th and Saturday, May 11th
Each class is allotted a 10-minute rehearsal onstage in costume on either Friday or Saturday. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your time slot. One parent should accompany their dancer and wait inside the theater. Dancers may leave as soon as they are done. If you miss your time slot you will not get to rehearse!

Costume Requirements by Class
Preballet: Girls: pink narrow strap leotard without skirt, pink footed tights, pink ballet slippers, hair in bun. Boys: costume from MotionArts (biker shorts underneath), black ballet slippers.
Ballet 1: black narrow strap leotard, pink footed tights, pink ballet slippers, hair in medium to low bun.
Ballet 2: black or pink narrow strap leotard, pink footed tights, pink ballet slippers, hair in bun.
Ballet 3: black narrow strap leotard, pink footed tights, pink ballet slippers, hair in bun.
Ballet 3/4 & 4: black narrow strap leotard (for black tutu dancers only) or nude/light pink narrow strap leotard, pink footed tights, pink ballet slippers, hair in bun.
